Most fights between girls over a boy may be limited to scratching and hair pulling.
But this brawl between schoolgirls turned into an all out war with combatants filmed attacking each other with meat cleavers and metal poles.
The fight is said to have started between two schoolgirls who were locked in a dispute over a boy they both fancied and who then each called a band of their friends to join in.
Police were called in to break up the fight and at least two dozen girls were arrested.
Amateur footage recorded by another young pupil shows chaotic scenes on the small village street in the township of Laisi, in Laibin City in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region.
The clanging of metal and glass can be heard in the clip as girls holding wooden sticks, meat cleavers, and metal poles can be seen chasing each other around and hitting each other.
As students scream, “Don’t kill anyone”, several schoolboys can also be seen amidst the group of brawlers – not taking part, but simply standing by and laughing.
Reports said the two subjects – a girl in a grey jumpsuit and another wearing tight, black jeans and a denim jacket – led the violence involving the two parties.
The two girls are apparently classmates at a local high school, with all participants thought to be below the age of 18.
The recording was only able to capture five minutes of the unbelievable scenes, which resemble true gang violence.
Local police said all involved have been detained for questioning, while their parents have also been called in.
There were no reports of any serious or fatal injuries during the violent brawl despite the potentially deadly weapons being used.
