Minister commends NLNG for contributing $33bn revenue to FG

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, has commended the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company for contributing $33 billion revenue to the Federal Government in the last 16 years.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Information Unit in the ministry, Charles Dafe, in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Udo-Udoma gave the commendation when the Managing Director of the company, Babs Omotowa, and his management team visit the minister.

Udo-Udoma was quoted as saying: “We must commend your company for having 95 per cent of its workforce as Nigerians.

“We are happy that the company presently ranked as the 4th largest in the world, including the company’s ability in the last 16 years to deliver 33 billion dollars revenue to government.

“Also, it was able to deliver the amount to the government through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation with payment of $13 billion straight into the Federation Account.”

The statement also said the minister commended the company for reducing gas flaring from 65 per cent to 25 per cent.

In his response, Omotowa said the company was presently building its seventh plant and that it would be ready between 2021 and 2022.

He said the project, when completed, would significantly reduce or totally end gas flaring in the country.
