Serena Williams explains dancing for Beyoncé In Lemonade video.

Fans across the globe got quite the shock last month when Beyoncé’s long-form “Lemonade” video debuted and fans saw legendary tennis champion Serena Williams twerking next to Bey in the “Sorry” portion of the video. Although most fans were pleased to see the queen of tennis dancing next to the queen of pop music, Khia famously blasted Williams’ provocative dancing. Now, Williams has finally explained how she came to be in the video and what it felt like dancing next to Bey.

As previously reported, Khia had a lot to say about Bey’s “Lemonade” video last month, blasting Bey for having Williams in the video.

“Had [Serena Williams] as her god — jester, dancing and stripping for her. I can’t believe Serena got on there and was Beyoncé’s prop twerking in a body suit in this long a– black slave a– video,” Khia said.

Khia then took aim at Williams, saying, “Here you is [sic] black as a black juicy berry. And you getting in front of this h– and letting her have her legs gapped open in the chair while you twerking for her like the slave masters had us doing.”

Of course, many fans blasted Khia for criticizing Bey and Williams. And while Williams is still refusing to directly address Khia’s comments, according to media reports, Williams recently explained how she came to be in the “Lemonade” video.

“I have known the director since I was like 9 years old. I know Beyoncé pretty well, so they were like, ‘We would love for you to be in this particular song. It’s about strength and it’s about courage and that’s what we see you as,’ ” Williams explained.

She then explained the direction that Bey gave her for the video and how it wasn’t so easy twerking for the singer on camera.

“She told me that she just wants me to dance, like just be really free and just dance like nobody’s looking and go all out. So that wasn’t easy in the beginning, but then it got easier. … I thought that particular song on the visual album was really a strong song, and it was also really fun at the same time,” Williams shared.

Well, Williams need not say more. It seems like she had a good time on set and despite any criticisms, most fans seemed to enjoy her “Lemonade” appearance as well.
